How it works

Below, you will find a step by step list of how to use our projections for your shows. However, if you would rather not read and have us walk you through it. We are happy to help every step of the way!

Step 1
Accessing

What you'll need:

1. An email address

2. A MacBook or laptop

Our projections are accessible via a google drive. One you have received the link to the drive, you are free to download the animations and save them into a folder of your choice!

*Remember where you have saved them!

A presentation software is a program that you will use to control the animations, like PowerPoint.

Personally, we recommend Qlab, a software designed for theatre, however this is only available on Apple Products currently.

Microsoft PowerPoint seems to be the best option currently for windows devices.

Once you have your preferred presentation software installed, all you need to do is drag the animations into a new project in the correct order.

Step 2
Organising

What you'll need:

1. A presentation software

Step 3
Connecting

What you'll need:

1. A Projector
2. Your MacBook/Laptop
3. Connection Wire (A Long one!)

Check your projector and device to see what connection wires they will need.

It is most likely that it will be a hdmi lead but it is always worth double checking just in case. Once you have that wire, connect the device to the projector and make sure that the images are coming out correctly.

This step is probably the most difficult so make sure that you have the in house theatre team and/or crew ready to climb some ladders! Also before fitting the projector, make sure to turn it off before climbing up and turn it back on once you're up there!

I recommend that you take a seat in the middle of the audience, here you will get the best view. Get your crew to carry the projector up the ladder and rig to what you have above the stage. Distance is down to you, but it is worth noting that the closer you rig the projector to the surface, the more skewed the image will be. This will take some trial and error until you are happy!

Step 4
Rigging

What you'll need:

1. A Projector
2. The Venue

Step 5
Lighting

What you'll need:

1. A Projector
2. The Venue
3. The device

This is the fun part!

Try out different lighting states and angles to see what you prefer, a little tip is that if you aim the lights towards the projections, it will wash them out.

Projections emit light so it is likely that you won't need as much as you have done previously. Try some things out and see how you get on!
